Site-Level Quantification

OGMP 2.0 Level 5 requires an independent, measurement-based quantification of a site’s total emissions – reconciled against source-level data. CHARM® delivers exactly that from the air: a complete, quantified picture of every station’s emissions in a single overflight.

A Complete Emission Snapshot in Minutes

CHARM® measures a station’s total emissions in a single overflight lasting just a few minutes. With over 1,000 measurement points per second, it resolves both the location and the strength of individual sources at high spatial resolution.

The decisive advantage lies in capturing everything at once. Emissions fluctuate, and shifting local winds move plumes around during a survey. Methods that need several hours to cover a larger site inevitably measure individual sources multiple times – under changing conditions – which distorts the result. CHARM®’s snapshot approach eliminates this error entirely: every source is captured in the same moment, under the same conditions.

The Most Accurate Airborne Method – At the Lowest Cost

In the GERG technology benchmark, airborne LiDAR methods ranked among the most accurate of all tested technologies – and CHARM® is the most accurate airborne method. The only comparably accurate approaches are either tracer-gas analysis, which is slow and labour-intensive, or truck-mounted systems that require ground access to every site and have never gained traction in the field.

Airborne inspection combines top-tier accuracy with a fraction of the operational effort – and among airborne systems, CHARM® stands out on both precision and cost-efficiency. That advantage grows when station quantification is combined with pipeline inspection in a single deployment: one aircraft, one mobilisation, two services – a cost structure no ground-based or drone-based provider can match.

Safe to Fly, Anywhere on Site

Our surveys are flown with twin-engine helicopters at altitudes between 100 and 150 metres – high enough to operate safely over flare stacks and other sensitive infrastructure, low enough to deliver full measurement precision. This proven safety profile means our missions raise no flight-permit challenges, wherever the station is located.

Safety is our top priority – and our Belgian legal obligations go far beyond what the EU Methane Regulation requires. This isn’t just a matter of compliance; it’s who we are. CHARM® meets these requirements.
